  • Portraiture Wed 30th Jul 2025
This exhibition is a continuation of my interests in portraiture and the human form. I've applied skills I've developed during life drawing sessions and used self-portraiture as a way to explore new techniques, primarily through the mediums of watercolour and pen.
  • Collectively Isolated Wed 30th Jul 2025
Tomy is an artist and illustrator raised in Barnsley and now an established resident of West Yorkshire. He see Illustration as art being drawn out from the words of a story and thus needs to resemble what the reader is imagining, while paintings tell a story without the use of words and that story can be interpreted differently to each individual viewer. Collectively Isolated is a series of non-confrontational art exploring the idea of a subtle, unspoken discourse in a world more connected than ever. Each painting depicts routine scenes of daily life in a limited a palette of contrasting colours, while its use of bold, angular shapes, a signature style of Tomy's paintings, draws inspiration from the Constructivist movement. "It began as I tried to navigate my own struggles, what I was feeling and what was causing me to feel certain ways. There was nothing specific to pinpoint, to accuse, to work from, but something almost intangible seemed to be laced into everything, creating a disconnection in so many parts of my life. Observing a world increasingly more divided, vocal and steadfast made me wonder 'how did it get so loud and unmovable?' I again looked internally at my own confused frustrations; exhausted, irritant, an inability to feel joy. I have this belief we might all be experiencing the same. Dizzied by faceless culprits with no outlet for our emotions. I wanted to create a series which was relatable to everyone while diverting the blame away from anyone." Tomy will be in residence from 5pm to 6pm.

  • Beyond The Skylines: A Portrait Of Humanity Wed 26th Mar 2025
Alex is a mixed media and glass artist based in Meltham. Her artistic journey has been one of lifelong love and dedication. Having studied at Manchester Metropolitan University she found a real passion for art and since graduating in 2013 she has gone on to share her love of art with others. Her work draws inspiration from individual and collective stories and memories. Throughout her practice Alex has always enjoyed exploring the derelict and forgotten. She has had a passion for architecture and nature and the way the two intertwine. She has always found beauty in the overlooked and discarded and it is through this passion that she began her mixed media journey. This collection explores the complex relationship between humanity and the built environment. Alex’s latest works fuses reality with fantasy, blending architectural structures and imagined landscapes. Each piece in the series tells a distinct story, intertwining detailed architectural elements, from historic buildings to futuristic skylines, with surreal environments and glimpses of the inhabitants within. The artwork draws viewers into immersive worlds that challenge perceptions of society, inspiring them to envision alternative ways of living and a more hopeful future. In addition to creating her own work, Alex runs arts for wellbeing workshops in the community, where participants can explore their creativity and discover the therapeutic benefits of art.

  • Top of the Pops Wed 27th Nov 2024
I am a local artist and have had a keen interest in painting for the last decade. My work is heavily influenced by pop culture, cinema and graffiti, I have loved these creative genres for as long as I can remember and love to create a fusion between them. My father is a great artist who has inspired me on my painting journey since been very young.
  • Behind The Scenes Wed 27th Nov 2024
This piece is about domestic violence and the experiences we feel afterwards. I chose to make this piece extremely colourful to go against the dark themes. My work combines abstract expressionism with colourful painted figures. I like how my painting can be interpreted in different ways, some see the LGBT+ aspect, I did a male and female presenting figure to cement the fact domestic abuse can happen to anyone.
