  • Tim Houghton Wed 28th May 2025
Born and raised in West Yorkshire, I developed an early appetite for creativity, though life initially led me down a different path—a successful 30-year career in graphic design and print, where I worked as a sales manager. Now, after a long hiatus, I’ve returned to my artistic roots with renewed passion and fresh perspective. These days, my creative focus lies in oil paints and colour pencils, having previously explored watercolours with a fair amount of success. My work is deeply influenced by my love of nature and time spent walking in the countryside, which naturally draws me toward wildlife subjects and still life compositions created in the calm of my home studio. My painting style leans toward modern realism—rooted in admiration for the Old Masters but reimagined with a contemporary twist. I find the greatest joy in capturing the beauty of detail, whether in the delicate texture of feathers or textures in everyday objects bathed in natural light.

  • Wakefield Art Club Wed 28th May 2025
Welcome to Wakefield Art Club’s exhibition of their creative artwork which includes painting, drawing and mixed media. The work highlights the diverse range of expressive art created by the members. Each individual artist is inspired by different things, nature or urban scenes, abstract or still life, but we all share one overall aim of expressing our creativity through art. The art club is one of the oldest in the area, having reached its milestone anniversary of seventy years last year. We meet every Tuesday 7pm-9pm and have a programme of activities, including weekly themed workshops and occasional demonstrations by visiting artists or outdoor excursions during the summer months. The group consists of members new to art, others who have many years of experience who are very supportive and enjoy sharing tips or techniques to aid in skill development. To encourage creativity and interaction we hold optional themed contests from time to time. We are a friendly and sociable group and love to welcome new members of all abilities.
  • Lakeside Arts Group Wed 31st Jan 2024
This group exists to promote the arts, to encourage new artists, to support more established artists and to foster wider community participation. It welcomes the development of venues in the Yorkshire area for artists to share their work. We value and celebrate the power of the arts in all areas of life, their healing capacity and the way they help us communicate. From 7pm to 7.30pm there will be a performance of poems by Susan McCartney and Michael Yates.
  • Kate Wray Wed 31st Jan 2024
Installation, paint and sculptural artist. My work ultimately derives from my past experiences of working with a vast array of people. Becoming infatuated with the human mind has made me question relationships, within my work I have explored the notion of relationships held between humans and nature, how we as a species have developed a civilization, running alongside a natural world and the constant battle between each other.

We are home educated sisters who love art! We've been attending sessions at The Art Exchange for some time but also do lots of artwork at home. Marla: "One of the pieces I created is a hand print and titled "Always and forever" I painted this with my mum in mind as she is always there for me, always holding my hand when I feel anxious." Lilli: "I've included a picture named "Storm on the Mountain". It shows how I felt at the time it’s the bright and colourful, I often put my feelings in to my artwork." There will be a selection of some more of our work too.

  • Cale Smith Wed 31st Jan 2024
I'm currently wanting to pursue illustration as a profession. The work shown is sketched from inspiration via anime/manga and is then put through a digital software on my phone to draw over the sketches and add the glow-like effect. There's no hidden meaning behind my work. Drawing is just something i just really enjoy doing and being able to create visually captivating art is what drives my passion.
