Art by Jonathan Walton
Jonathan Walton
Jonathan Walton is a Leeds-based artist working in acrylics, painting on hessian mounted board.
I started painting commissions around 15 years ago, however more recently I have been producing my own quirky portraits and urban nostalgic street scenes. I have been influenced by my father Stuart Walton who produced hundreds of paintings depicting northern gritty street scenes.
Open 5pm-9pm

DaC Art Yorkshire
Contemporary scenes from Yorkshire. Landscapes and town scenes documenting different stories in the life of our great county. People are always present, apart from one exception (a very special dog).
Used to work as a journalist on BBC Radio Leeds but had to retire after mental health difficulties caused by reporting the pandemic. Art turned out to be my life-saver and allows me to continue observing life, just in a different way.
Open 5pm-9pm
Previously at The Priory

Looking For Sticks: 52 Poems for 52 Weeks Wed 27th Nov 2024Looking for Sticks is Rob Reed’s first poetry collection. Written in the year he turned 52, it combines photography and poetry to reflect on childhood, romance, creativity and memory. There’s also some stuff in there about dinosaurs, aliens and bananas too. Rob has created a series of prints based on the book, and will be displaying them at The Priory. There will also be opportunities to hear him read from the book at 7pm.

Mike Wood Wed 25th Sep 2024After studying art at Goldsmiths, London University, I went on to pursue a career in education. Since retiring from the teaching profession I now have time to indulge my passion for painting which I do most days in my studio at home. I mostly work in oils and my subjects are varied but I have recently focused on local landscapes close to home in West Yorkshire. I also produce small oil paintings of wildlife and still life subjects which I sell at local craft fairs. My painting style is probably best described as contemporary realism and my paintings are straightforward representations of subjects that appeal to me. I want the viewer to instantly recognise and understand the subject chosen, but without me having to include every detail which I feel can look fussy and overworked. In this way I strive to create interesting and appealing paintings that make full use of the qualities of oil paint.
